The restless bridge
THE RESTLESS BRIDGE
Above the great rift that cuts the Dolkan continent in half, there is a possible shortcut that prevents travelers from getting dangerously close to the polar volcano Freyser Geist. It´s ironically called “the restless bridge”. It´s a series of skrocks that continually align and misalign themselves, at great speed, but which for a very short time create a corridor that allows someone to quickly cross over the precipice of the great rift, at the end of which there is the River Stanbeld, carrying with the flowing magic of the polar volcano that freezes anything that touches its surface, so that it is full of floating “statues” of creatures that are actually eternally crystallized victims as they fall into its treacherous waters. Touching its body of water deals 2d6 ice damage per round (on a successful Fortitude save) or 3d6 on a failed one.
The magical properties of river water are volatile and dissipate after 48 hours, and require a masterwork container worth at least 50 Gold Pieces to be able to withstand the temperature.
Currently, the Restless Bridge is inhabited by a guild of bandits of different species who randomly attack travelers when they try to cross it.
