ARCANE MUSKETS
ARCANE MUSKETS
The discovery of a safe way to mine arcanium made a technological leap possible, which was soon directed towards military purposes. In this case, the creation of arcane muskets, equipped with a small arcanium stone in their body, which is hit by the hammer of the weapon, generating a shot of energy. Arcane muskets are very expensive weapons and few wizards and craftsmen know the techniques for making them. Although there are several variations of the characteristics of each of them, a common arcane musket has the following properties:
Weapon Properties:
– Firing range of 30 meters.
– 30 charges (after this, the arcanium crystal will be exhausted and must be exchanged for a new one).
– Deals 2d6 energy damage. Each weapon has a specific energy descriptor, such as fire, cold, acid, and sonic. There are rumors of a weapon capable of firing raw energy, but they have never been confirmed.
– Critical 19-20/x2.
– On a critical failure, the energy is fired from the breech, causing weapon damage to its wielder.
– Some models are linked to a magic ring, without which the weapon becomes completely inert, being unable to fire.
Arcane Pistols:
There are also arcane pistols, which have the same characteristics, but deal less damage and have a shorter range (1d6 energy damage, range of 15 meters, 20 charges).
The construction of this type of weapon is an industrial secret closely guarded by the Tarkal, who created the magical technology that made such items possible. Some members of other species, however, have already reverse engineered them to learn how to make them. Some of these clandestine items are not entirely stable and can cause arcanium poisoning in their user.
