The Praxahedron

The Praxahedron

An extraordinary sight strikes an observer approaching from the deck of his ship: The Praxahedron, a Tarkal colony established in a large skrock halfway to the continent of Morgen. It´s an immense rocky cube that was built on floating rock and has strategic openings to provide natural cross lighting inside. Some points also have treated crystal blocks to increase light dispersion.

The Praxahedron is an architectural marvel from the alien minds of the Tarkal people. External visitors are rare, since to arrive safely nearby, the guest must send a prior communication and have their entry authorized. Unauthorized vessels receive a warning, which if ignored, escalates to a massive attack from this exotic floating fortress.

There is a vein of arcanium in this skrock, which is carefully mined in a way calculated not to excessively reduce the mass of the skrock (which could compromise its buoyancy). There is a population of Magibrutes that live permanently here, invited by Tarkal themselves to work in arcanium mining due to their natural resistance to the radiation of this ore. Unlike other types of mines of this element managed by other votes, the local culture is to provide lead mesh suits to workers as a second layer of protection against radioactive poisoning. The magibrutes residing in the Praxahedron are well treated and integrated into Tarkal society, which does not exhibit the same prejudices as humans, which leads many magibrutes to do everything they can to be accepted as miners in this colony.

Population:

200.000 (80% Tarkal, 15% Magibrutes, 5% other).

Language:

T´Kel, common, Brutish.

Government

Noocratic Triad – The Praxahedron is governed by the three most intelligent Tarkal in the colony. When one of the rulers dies, a public competition is opened and the vacancy is filled by the individual with the best result.

Religion:

The inhabitants of the Praxahedron do not have an established belief system, but many of them have a huge appreciation for the so-called “Tarkism” by other peoples. It´s more of a philosophy of life than an institutional religion, which values the importance of ethics, rationality and collective well-being for a full and harmonious life in society.

Import

Meat, fruit, edible insects, leather, manufactured items, books of scientific knowledge and arcane treatises, grimoires.

Export

Minor magical items, arcane muskets (via smuggling, Tarkal laws do not allow free trade of this type of powerful weapon), compasses, spyglasses, sextants, astrolabes and objects with clockwork mechanisms.

Festivals and commemorative dates

The Tarkal are not a festive people and consider most recreational activities unproductive, however those that are aimed at intellectual challenges are greatly appreciated.

Tsaak Nabak

It´s a kind of equivalent to the Olympics of these people, but they are specifically focused on mental challenges, tests of concentration and reasoning, as well as arcane mastery disputes between experienced spellcasters.

Kokun

A sabbatical day that begins precisely at midnight on the last day of the year and lasts until the end of the next. On this date, the Tarkals do not do any activity other than meditating on the events of the past year, synthesizing valuable lessons from the experiences gained, as well as outlining strategies to correct errors and personal failures.
